Shahbaz Choudhry Speaks - A Message From Our Founder

Hello Pace Family,

It seems crazy that I haven’t written an official blog post on the Pace Journal website in over two years – but it just goes to show how hectic the journey has been so far.

When I created the @pacejournal Instagram account in 2018, never in my wildest imagination did I think that it would grow to what it has become.

Growing up, I always felt that my obsession with fast bowling, technique, fitness and nutrition was unique to me.

I genuinely felt that there were very few individuals like myself in the world.

I rarely used social media. I was very disconnected from the outer world.

My life revolved around studying fast bowling, training, and continuously trying to find ways to improve and bowl faster.

I've heard a lot of stories about how people spend their teen years, the twenties and thirties. Still, I can honestly say that from the age of 17 to 30, I don’t remember life being anything other than fast bowling.

I'm very proud of this, but at the same time, I'm quite upset.

All I ever wanted was to become the fastest bowler in the world. It wasn't a weird fantasy that I was expecting to achieve by luck – I was committed to doing whatever it took. I stayed on that course for over ten years. Unfortunately, this dream wasn't meant for me, and as I have grown older, I have come to appreciate that there is, in fact, more to life than just bowling fast.

Haha, I know there will be a kid out there who is reading this and thinking, “this guy is crazy, there is nothing in life other than cricket and bowling fast”. Trust me. I have been there!

Passion is beautiful, but it can also be dangerous.

I’ve seen so many cricketers (and even friends) shift from loving the game to hating the game.

This sad reality is one of the reasons why I started Pace Journal.

I want to protect cricketers from falling into this dangerous cycle as I did.

In my time, there were very few resources which taught you about fast bowling and speed.

It’s almost as if fast bowling development is a myth. The common consensus is that you either have it, or you don’t.

I am convinced that this is false. My progress is a testament that you can successfully change your action, get incredibly fit and increase your speed significantly.

You may be born a fast bowler, but everyone can unearth the fast bowler within them.

The content we produce is an honest and wholehearted attempt to help every cricketer, regardless of their ability or playing level, find the answers they are looking for.

Pace Journal is a platform that inspires and educates. It is a place where the best cricketers and coaches share their best secrets and insights.

Ultimately, we keep the hopes and dreams of hundreds and thousands of fast bowlers around the world alive.

Over the next few weeks, months or whenever time permits, I will share more about the incredible moments that the entire pace community and I have experienced in the last few years.

From the launch of our first series with Tino Best to creating the world’s first fast bowling anthem, Keep Balanced to signing Tymal Mills as an official partner in the company.

It’s been a hell of a ride, and a pacey one too!

Stay tuned for more.
