Mark Wood Reveals How to Bowl Fast

Wheels, Outrageous, Overwhelming and Destructive. Those are the words that we chose for the acronym to reveal the identity of our latest guest on Pace Journal, the global fast bowling phenomenon, Mark Wood.

Ahead of the T20 World Cup in the UAE, the speedster sat down with our resident hosts, Shahbaz Choudhry and Tymal Mills to relive his journey from a self-proclaimed swing bowler to one of the most lethal pacemen on the planet.

In a fascinating and open discussion, Mark goes into detail about the ups and downs in the life of an aspiring fast bowler.

We are extremely proud and excited to bring this exclusive feature to the fast bowling world in the form of our signature bite-sized pieces of content – you can catch it all on our Instagram Channel.

Words by Shahbaz Choudhry

There is a widespread opinion that fast bowlers are born, not made. I like to think of it a bit differently. Fast bowlers may be born, but they can also be discovered and then developed.

Mark’s story is exactly that. It is the definition of ambition and work ethic.

Within the first few minutes of our chat, he shocked us with a striking admission that he was in fact, a swing bowler up until the age of 17-18. That statement set the tone for what was to follow for the next hour; Mark’s experiences are not only inspiring but incredibly educational for fast bowlers and coaches who seek to (1) increase their bowling speed and (2) develop talent and get the most out of them.

Sit back and enjoy this series of content which I personally see as a privilege for any fast bowler, coach or cricket enthusiast.

Thank you Mark for sharing your story with the pace family.
