How important is the cricket pitch for bowling fast?

Before the start of a game, players congregate around the pitch to understand how it will play.

Will it be quick? Will it have bounce? Will it offer seam movement?

Who knows the answers to these questions better than the ground staff who create the pitch?!

For as long as we can remember, the insight and knowledge from ground staff have remained confidential.

With that being said, we’re excited to announce our latest series of content, Pitch Report, which is an in-depth discussion with Rob Court the Head Groundsman at the prestigious Caldicott School. Not only does Rob have high level experience as a groundsman, but he’s also a wicketkeeper and Taplow CC 1st XI club captain too!

That’s not all, we’re also going to throw in some exclusive wisdom from seasoned international cricketer, Tymal Mills about how to make the most out of a pitch from a tactical and experiential point of view.
